my approach

Counselling or therapy can be challenging, requiring a commitment to face up to and work through difficult feelings. But it can also be enormously rewarding and enriching as you come gradually to self-understanding. I will be there every step of the way to support you on that journey.

As an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, I take approaches from various schools of therapy to find a way of working that will suit your needs. I work holistically, integrating mind, heart and body with a soulful perspective.

Counselling and therapy is fundamentally a collaborative process - for me, the therapeutic relationship between us (as counsellor and client) is key. My approach is warm, relational and non-judgemental, combining careful, empathic listening with evidence-based therapeutic approaches that are designed to aid the processing of difficult emotions.

We need people in our lives with whom we can be as open as possible. To have real conversations with people seems like a such a simple, obvious suggestion, but it involves courage and risk.
— Thomas Moore, Care of the Soul

How it works

I provide counselling and therapy for individuals or couples on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to find the inner resources to enhance your life and to live it more fully. I offer a soulful perspective, aiming to help my clients to view pain and suffering as a meaningful part of our journey towards understanding, wisdom and self-knowledge.

It can be difficult to find a therapist who you feel connected to, someone who you can open up to.  That is why I suggest we have a short phone consultation, free of charge before our first session.

This consultation gives you a chance to get a feel for how I work as a therapist. In this consultation we can look at what’s going on in your life and figure out how you can move forward. You can also use this time to ask me any questions about therapy that you may have.

My aim is to create a safe space for you to feel comfortable talking in, particularly about things that may have been difficult to express until now.  Each person is an individual, and so our unique therapeutic relationship will be important in allowing you to express yourself honestly without any fear of judgement.
