About me

I have been interested in personal and spiritual growth for many years.  Most of my working life was spent in the corporate world managing teams and supporting them with not just relational issues but also their personal struggles.

12 years ago, after going through a transitional period in my own life, I decided to train to become a counsellor.  I initiated my training by completing a 2 year foundation course in Humanistic Therapy at Kensington and Chelsea College in London. Following this, I went on to complete a challenging 3 year Diploma in Integrative Psychosynthesis Counselling at Re-Vision, London.

Since graduating, I have specialised in bereavement counselling, supporting people to manage feelings of loss, grief, isolation and guilt. I have volunteered for the last 12 years for the well-known national charity, Cruse, and have also worked at Re-Vision’s low cost counselling service with clients with a broader range of challenges. I recently joined the training team at Cruse and have recently become a supervisor.

It’s important to me that I continue to learn and grow as counsellor, so I regularly attend post-graduate courses, workshops and retreats, cementing this by attending therapy myself. I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their code of ethics. I also receive regular supervision and am committed to ongoing professional development.

MY APPROACH

Psychotherapy is fundamentally a collaborative process - for me, the therapeutic relationship between us (as counsellor and client) is key.

I have a warm and down to earth approach and have worked with clients from diverse social, ethnic and religious background. I have supported my clients to undergo and sustain positive and meaningful changes in their lives.

I have had a small private practice in Fulham, London, for a number of years and I am now working in the Cambridge and Newmarket area.

I cover a wide range of general therapeutic issues, including:

·       Bereavement

·       Loss (including the loss of a child)

·       Depression

·       Stress and anxiety

·       Relationships difficulties

·       Low self esteem

·       Midlife crisis

·       Work and employment issues

·       Cultural and religious identity issues

I like to use imagination, visualisation, dreams and, when appropriate and if the client is comfortable, the use of ‘chair work’.  I offer insights into how childhood experiences may affect us. I also take into consideration the impact of the external world upon the internal world of my clients to explore the significance of the social, cultural and political realms of experience.
